Mayfair Shopping Centre is embarking on an initiative for social change in support of the anti-bullying movement in Canada. They invite you to get involved by making a promise for kindness with #PinkShirtPromise, in partnership with Shaw Communications and Post-it® Brand, trademark of 3M. For every promise of kindness posted, Mayfair will donate $1 to United Way of Greater Victoria (maximum $5,000 donation) to help support programs to end bullying in our communities.
Did you know? Bullying affects people of all age groups, backgrounds and genders online, at school or at work. Forty percent of Canadian workers experience bullying on a weekly basis, and 47% of Canadian parents report having a child victim of bullying. Let’s stand up together to help end bullying.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE: Participating is free and easy! All you have to do is be willing to encourage your co-workers to write their promise for kindness on a Post-it Note. These messages can be shared with co-workers, friends, put on display in your office or forwarded to Mayfair Shopping Centre to raise money for charity (details below). To participate, simply fill out the participation form and return it to the Mayfair administration office by email, fax, or in person by Friday, February 5th. You will receive your #PinkShirtPromise kit by Monday, February 15th.
February 17th to February 24th, a Post-it Pink wall will be on display in Mayfair’s centre court near Concierge. For every promise of kindness posted on the wall, Mayfair will donate $1 to the United Way of Greater Victoria (maximum $5,000 donation) to help support programs to end bullying in our communities.
February 17th at 10 am: Post-it Pink Kick-Off Event. You are invited to join local dignitaries, media, students, teachers, shoppers, community organizations and other businesses to be among the first to share your promises at the Post-it Pink wall in centre court near Concierge.
February 24th at 9:30 am: Post-it Pink Photo Opportunity in centre court near Concierge. Wearing a pink shirt has become a symbol of support for the Anti-Bullying Movement in many communities. This year, February 24th is Pink Shirt Day, and Mayfair invites you and your co-workers to wear a pink shirt to show your support.
Throughout the campaign, Shaw Communications will be running an online contest. Every promise made using #PinkShirtPromise hashtag on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook will be eligible for a chance to win the grand prize: a trip for two to Toronto, two-nights’ hotel accommodation, a guest appearance on ETCanada and a $1,500 shopping spree.
