RED SHOE CONTEST
Sport your own pair of signature red United Way Converse runners by entering our Red Shoe Contest from February 1-28, 2017. Stand up for people in need in your community and make a footprint for change. Vulnerability has no shoe size. It comes in all different shapes and sizes, colours and classes. People accessing United Way funded programs are among us everyday – they are your co-workers, neighbours, friends and family members. When you wear your red United Way shoes you’ll be making a statement and stepping up for someone in need. You’ll be part of a team of compassionate individuals working to ensure that a network of services is available for people in crisis when and where they need it most. To enter, find the red United Way Converse shoe on uwgv.ca and email the page location and your contact information to: firstname.lastname@example.org. Your name will be included to win one of 8 signature red United Way shoes courtesy of Baggins Shoes. Deadline: Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at 4:30pm.
VICTORIA FILM FESTIVAL
United Way is partnering with the Victoria Film Festival to host the film: Theatre of Life at the Vic Theatre as part of their annual film festival. Theatre of Life is made by a Canadian filmmaker and is based in Milan, Italy. It centers on a soup kitchen and the refugees and homeless population that it serves in the community. Here’s a sneak peak of what’s in store for you: https://vimeo.com/174869482. The film screening will take place on Saturday, February 11, 2017 which marks national 211 day in Canada. In April 2017, bc211.ca will be available to all British Columbians as your one stop shop for community services. In addition to the online service directory, United Way Greater Victoria is fundraising to bring the award-winning phone line and text messaging option to Vancouver Island. To win two free tickets to Theatre is Life go to uwgv.ca/bc211 and tell us how many online visits bc211.ca received in 2015? Email your answer with your contact information to email@example.com. Deadline Feb 10 at 10am.

One of United Way’s priority areas is dedicated to helping kids succeed. Bring your family down to the Royal BC Museum between February 24-27, 2017 to participate in the Raise the Red scavenger hunt. Completed entries will be entered to win two pairs of signature red United Way Converse runners courtesy of Baggins Shoes – one for an adult & one for a kid of the household. The first 500 entries will also receive a Victoria cream courtesy of Rogers’ Chocolates.
