Dr. Rebecca Grant is an Associate Professor of Information Systems in the University of Victoria’s Peter B. Gustavson School of Business. She is the author of numerous research articles, as well as two books.
Rebecca’s early career included positions with Great West Life Assurance Co., the Government of Manitoba, and IBM Canada. In addition to the University of Victoria, Rebecca has taught at McGill University, the University of Cincinnati and the University of California at Irvine. She has also taught in executive programs at UVic and UCLA’s Andersen School. Rebecca currently teaches e-commerce and management information systems in the Peter B. Gustavson School of Business. She consults in the areas of e-learning, information systems impact and e-business strategy.
Rebecca has been an active volunteer with the United Way since 2002. She served as Leadership Chair for the 2002 and 2003 workplace campaigns at the University of Victoria, increasing leadership giving in both years. As Chair of the University’s 2004 United Way workplace campaign, she and her team took the University’s pledge total over $200,000 while again increasing leadership giving. 2014 is her 10th year on United Way’s campaign cabinet, where she has chaired the Professionals and Hi-Tech/Media Divisions and been an account executive in the Education Division.
Rebecca has been a leadership presenter since the program began in 2005 and is currently in her third year as Workplace Leadership Chair. In that role, she has assembled and trained a team of 20 community leaders who give more than 120 presentations annually on behalf of the United Way. She has personally given more than 100 such presentations in workplaces from Victoria to Sooke to Sidney since the program’s inception.
All of these activities represent a huge commitment of time and energy throughout the year, not just during the major fall campaign. She is, of course, herself a very long-time generous donor at the Patron level ($5,000+ annually).
In addition to her work at United Way, Rebecca chaired the Board of the University Club and the Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce, and has been a member of the Telus Community Board. Rebecca is currently a Governor of the Chamber of Commerce and a volunteer with Ballet Victoria.
Thank you for leading our 2014 campaign, Rebecca!
