United Way Greater Victoria Welcomes Two New Management Team Members
VICTORIA, BC – Marg Rose and Cheryl Dalwood are the latest additions to the United Way management team and join in the area of Resource Development.
Marg Rose is the new Director Philanthropy, Resource Development. Most recently with the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, NWT & Nunavut as Senior Philanthropy Advisor, Marg’s work in building capacity and opportunity through fundraising extends across several organizations and provinces. Marg is no stranger to Victoria, however, as she has worked in this community in different capacities in non-profit and post secondary organizations dedicated to philanthropic and community investment efforts.
At the University of Victoria from 2004-2008, Marg led initiatives to build annual giving and major gifts, creating new programs for recognition and stewardship, while working collaboratively with alumni, external relations and communications teams to build the fund development program’s success.
More recently, Marg helped to build our community through her work at the Victoria Foundation as Director of Community Initiatives and Grants. Her understanding of our community and the many programs United Way supports will make her a valuable member of the team.
Cheryl Dalwood is the new Associate Director Philanthropy. Cheryl has worked in major gifts and annual giving through post secondary, first with the University of Manitoba and then with the University of Calgary in the development office and as part of research services and leadership giving.
Cheryl also comes to United Way with government experience where she has served with Alberta Culture and Tourism’s community granting programs, and most recently was the Director of Alberta’s Promise, a provincial organization under the Ministry of Human Services that works with business, non-profit and community partners to pair community needs and resources.

BACKGROUND: United Way is a year-round fundraiser and community funder working to address the immediate needs of our most vulnerable citizens, while also creating long-term strategies to target the root causes of social issues. We have a strong history in Greater Victoria – over 78 years and $149 million dollars raised. As the region’s largest non-government funder, we are one of the few organizations to provide multi-year funding to ensure we support a strong and stable network of services. We work collaboratively, in a “united way” bringing business, labour, government, the non-profit sector and donors together to build a strong and caring community.
