The University of Victoria (UVic) is one of United Way’s most strategic and involved partners. As the second highest grossing workplace campaign in Greater Victoria, they have raised an impressive $4,265,689 since 1994. The impact UVic’s campaign has on the community is immense.
Strong executive support and a dedicated United Way committee is what fuels the UVic campaign. From canvassing for pledges to running stellar events, it all makes a difference in the final total raised. In 2015 UVic raised over $273,000 and they are primed to do it all over again in 2016.
UVic has continued to reinvent itself over the course of the last few years when it comes to fundraising for United Way and one example was their Power up the Tower event last year. Leaders in a number of department across the campus participated by climbing up the CARSA wall all in the name of raising funds for United Way.
“It is important for UVic to participate in United Way because it’s part of our strategic plan to engage with community,” says Jim Forbes, incoming UVic campaign chair. Running an employee giving campaign isn’t the only way UVic is supporting United Way. They also offer a generous printing sponsorship, sit on a number of our advisory committees and partner on research initiatives.
United Way is grateful for our partnership with UVic and is looking forward to another exciting campaign year!
