When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, we were all thrown into a crisis that didn’t just take us by surprise, but by storm.
At UWGV, we have seen many changes in our community. More people are living with uncertainty. There has been a toll on our mental health, our relationships and our financial security.
More individuals are on the edge of poverty. Stress is high. The need for support is greater than ever before.
There are, however, many things in our community that have not changed. Our care and compassion for one another. Our love for everything local. Our sense of community – neighbours helping neighbours.
Because we love #YYJ, from Victoria to Sooke to Sidney and the Southern Gulf Islands, we will rally. We will rally our energy, time and talents, and where we can, our dollars to serve our community.
For this year’s annual campaign season, we have narrowed our focus in direct response to COVID-19 to help our community recover and rebuild.
We have three areas of action, each with signature initiatives wherein individuals can direct gifts to help those most vulnerable.
You can help provide outreach workers and counselling services to those facing mental health challenges and addictions.
UWGV was here for #YYJ before COVID-19 and will continue to be here long into the future as we rebuild and recover: uniting local people for local good.
