Period Promise

Periods are a fact of life – that we don’t really talk about much and monthly menstruation products are a necessity.

If you’re a woman living in poverty – or vulnerable in other ways – access to products can be challenging.  Nobody should have to pick between feeding their family and being able to afford basic hygiene products.

For homeless youth or women living on the street – it’s even more challenging.

Period Promise morphed out of Tampon Tuesday which has been on the go for 10 years now. This year, United Way’s Labour Committee, Victoria Labour Council, Hillside Centre and BC Transit have partnered to fill up a BC Transit bus with unopened boxes of menstrual products and to help youth and women in need.

Make your period promise and drop by Hillside Centre this Saturday:

Fill the bus
Saturday, March 2, 10 am to 2 pm
Hillside Centre
NE Parking lot, corner of Shelbourne and North Dairy Road.

All of the product collected will then be distributed to United Way funded agencies in the week leading up to International Women’s Day.

Thanks to partners BC Transit, Hillside Centre, United Way Greater Victoria Labour Committee and the Victoria Labour Council.
